What is ISO 14064-3?

ISO 14064-3:2019 is the international standard for verifying and validating greenhouse gas statements. It sets out the principles a verifier follows and the process from agreeing the engagement to issuing an opinion. It is used alongside ISO 14064-1 (organization inventories) and ISO 14064-2 (projects).

The course teaches the standard clause by clause, but the standard itself is copyrighted and isn’t included in the course fee. Buy your own copy from ISO or your national standards body before you start.

Junior verifiers and newcomers entering GHG verification, and experienced verifiers who want a refresher on the standard or are moving between regulatory programs.

Before you start

A basic understanding of greenhouse gas science and climate policy. Familiarity with GHG reporting helps but isn’t required. You’ll need your own copy of ISO 14064-3:2019.

No. Standards are copyrighted, so you’ll need your own copy of ISO 14064-3:2019. Lessons reference it clause by clause.

Can I take Course 102 without Course 101?

Yes, if you already have working knowledge of ISO 14064-3:2019. Otherwise start with Course 101.
